WIP 1 Status - Hooray!

dukeenchiladasDear future me, since I'm assuming I'll probably be the only one ever actively reading this long after my project is published,
It may be the middle of the day, but I have some wonderful news! I actually wrote words today! Yeah! I truly added content to my primary WIP! It's 500 words and I feel the urge to write even more today, but I figured I would take a minute to blog, and put the W in WIP!
That isn't to say I've been lazing around for the last several days since my first post. In fact, I've been outlining and rearranging certain events to make for a better flow of story. WIP 1 is written in first-person present tense, as I plan for all the stories in this series to be, and I realized that I have too many time skips. I had some hours progress in one sentence, and even three months between the end of one chapter and the start of the next!
I did lose around 100 words of my first draft through my deletions and modifications, but with the 500 today so far I'm hoping to break 49k by February 1st! That being said, it's very possible that I lose even more words when I rearrange Acts 2 and 3, since I've only really touched Act 1 so far. However, I'm positive that I can counter this easily since my beats seem to fit nicely in about 23 chapters.
As for the reason I'm here on this site, I recently joined Get Your Words Out and pledged to write 120 days this year. As far as I'm concerned, I've written/done things for at least 4 days and I'm counting the writing I did in regards to outlining for the series as a whole (books 1 and 2 so far). I have made a secondary and tertiary pledge to myself though, to be done alongside my primary pledge for GYWO.
My secondary pledge is to write 40,000 words this year for WIP 1. However, I will be content with not writing 40k for WIP 1 if I can tell the story of WIP 1 with less. But my tertiary pledge is to write around 40k words this year that aren't for either academic, outlining, or blogging purposes.
